Holy Water Pot

These old holy water cups have been used by Hindus in India during the 'puja', the daily sacrificial ritual in front of the home altar. They are filled with water from sacred rivers such as the Ganges or the Yamuna. During the puja, a spoonful of water from the cup is offered to the idols. Also, the cups may have been used by Sadhus in temples to bless believers.

The cups come from Central India and are made of an alloy of bronze, brass or copper. Small details are often hammered into it. Age is between 40 and 60 years.

Available in small (small cup), medium (larger size) and large (same size as medium but heavier bronze and more decorations)
