The Nepalese city of Janakpur, once part of the ancient kingdom of Mithila, is renowned for its tradition of women painting their mud houses with beautiful, colorful images. Inspired by their daily lives, nature, and Hindu mythology, these intricate designs reflect the rich cultural heritage of the region.


At the Janakpur Women Development Center, local female artisans paint these vibrant images on handmade paper, offering a unique and authentic way to bring a piece of Janakpur's tradition into homes around the world.
